Microsoft will cut 6 thousand employees due to reorganization

Microsoft Corporation has announced plans to reduce its workforce by about 3%, which amounts to nearly 6 thousand employees across various departments worldwide. These changes are related to optimizing business processes for more effective operation in a changing market. A company representative stated that the layoffs are not related to employee performance.

Despite the cuts, Microsoft is demonstrating stable financial performance. The net profit for the quarter was $25.8 billion, and the company expects positive results by the end of April. This is the largest reduction since 2023 when 10 thousand employees were laid off.

“We continue to implement organizational changes necessary to best position the company for success in a dynamic market,” said a Microsoft spokesperson.

It is also worth noting that Microsoft has ceased the development of Skype, encouraging customers to transition to Microsoft Teams. The number of subscriptions to Office cloud services has increased by 30-43% depending on the plan.
