What is the fine for driving with transit numbers in 2025.

Transit number plates of red color are issued in cases when the vehicle is not yet registered or has been deregistered, but must be moved on the roads. How long can you drive on transit numbers during martial law.
This was reported by Facts ICTV.
When transit numbers are issued
- After purchasing a new car from a dealership when it has not yet been registered for permanent use.
- After deregistering a vehicle for sale abroad. The new owner has the right to temporarily move in such a vehicle.
- For transporting a vehicle without permanent registration (for example, in case of temporary importation or re-registration of a legal entity).
When to change the numbers
Vehicle owners are obliged to register (re-register) their vehicles within 10 days after purchase (receipt) or customs clearance, or temporary importation to Ukraine (point 7 of resolution No. 1388).
The period for state registration is extended in case of martial law being declared in Ukraine or in certain areas. If martial law is terminated or canceled, owners are obliged to register (re-register) their vehicles within 90 days.
At the same Time, it is prohibited to operate vehicles that are not registered (not re-registered) with the authorized bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and without number plates that meet the requirements set by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Thus, it is not mandatory to re-register the car and switch to permanent numbers; this can be done within 90 days after martial law is lifted. But this is only possible if the owner does not intend to use the vehicle during this time.
What is the fine
The fine for transit numbers is 850 UAH, according to Article 121 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (KoAp).
According to KoAp, this fine is not a one-time event. That is, if the driver is stopped again for the same violation, they will be issued another fine.
Transit number plates of red color are issued in special cases when a car does not yet have permanent numbers or the owner plans to use the vehicle temporarily. The rules for their use and validity are regulated by legislation, which provides for fines for violations. In case of martial law, this period may be extended for 90 days. However, it should be remembered that operating a vehicle without permanent numbers and registration may lead to fines for violating the rules.
