The United Kingdom called on Putin to cease fire in Ukraine
The United Kingdom has addressed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The statement from the British Foreign Office pertains to a ceasefire with Ukraine.
Britain urged Moscow to stop the fire without delay. The statement was made during talks in Riyadh between Ukraine, Russia, and the USA regarding a ceasefire in the Black Sea and a cessation of strikes on energy facilities.
The diplomatic agency noted that after the talks in Riyadh, they are maintaining 'close contact with the USA and Ukraine'.
'President Zelensky has already demonstrated that Ukraine is committed to peace by proposing a complete, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire. We hope that President Putin will heed this call without any delay,' the statement reads.
Additionally, London expressed gratitude to the USA for their support. They also stated that they continue to 'work closely with international partners to achieve lasting and sustainable peace.'
It is worth noting that US intelligence believes that Russia and Ukraine may become embroiled in a protracted war.
