BMW surpassed Tesla in electric vehicle sales for the first time.

BMW electric vehicle sales in the European Union increased by a third in July, while Tesla sales dropped by 16%. This information is reported by Bloomberg.
In terms of electric vehicle sales in the EU, the German conglomerate BMW AG took the top spot, surpassing the American company Tesla.
Sales of fully electric BMWs in the European Union in July grew by a third to 14,869 units. Tesla sales, on the other hand, fell by 16% to 14,561 units.
While Tesla remains the leader in the overall electric vehicle sales rankings in the region, in July BMW became the first luxury car manufacturer to surpass Tesla.
European buyers registered a total of 139,300 new electric vehicles, which is 6% fewer than in July 2023.
Demand for electric vehicles in Europe is decreasing due to the cancellation or reduction of subsidies, particularly in Germany and Sweden, which has forced manufacturers to scale back their ambitions in the electric vehicle sector.
BMW was able to overcome this trend thanks to consistent demand for its electric vehicles, particularly the i4 and iX1 models, which outperformed similar models from Mercedes and Audi.
In the first half of the year, the Tesla Model Y remained the most popular electric model in Europe, but deliveries of the model, which was released more than four years ago, are decreasing.
