Up to 72 hours of internet without power with xPON: a new technology is being launched in Ukraine.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine organized a meeting with representatives of internet providers to discuss issues arising during the transition of businesses to xPON technology. This technology allows Ukrainians to stay connected even during power outages. The participants of the meeting aim to make Ukraine one of the world's leaders in terms of speed and number of connections to xPON, to be prepared for any situation.
During the dialogue, decisions were made to accelerate the implementation of the technology. In particular, it is planned to improve the reservation of emergency teams that restore internet service after shelling, extend internet subsidies to increase the number of settlements with optical internet, as well as attract international donors to develop infrastructure.
The Ministry is also working on creating a service in the 'Diia' app, which will help citizens find providers offering xPON connections, learn about costs, and connection times.
Examples of the effectiveness of xPON technology were provided. After shelling, about 90% of subscribers using this technology remain with stable internet.
The Ministry expressed gratitude to the providers for the dialogue and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to ensure every Ukrainian has stable internet even under difficult conditions.
It is also worth reminding: the Ministry of Digital Transformation revealed the reservation mechanism for 'Diia.City' residents.
