Dangerous condition of the Zaporizhzhia NPP

The former head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate, Hryhoriy Plachkov, warns that the Zaporizhzhia NPP is in a very vulnerable state due to a number of problems. In particular, the station is currently powered only by one power supply line, there are issues with cooling, and the equipment is degraded.

The expert emphasizes that without necessary reserves, the station can operate on diesel generators for only 10 days, and reminded that the cooling tower at the Zaporizhzhia NPP has burned down and is now unusable. The need for power supply remains critical, and the equipment may be significantly damaged after three years of occupation.

Plachkov: 'The military conflict near the station is another serious challenge. However, despite all the difficulties, Russia will do everything possible to guard and defend the station, even at the moment when it falls under US control.'
