Finland provided 2 million euros to aid Ukrainian pensioners living in frontline areas. The program, which will last from August 2023, is designed to provide financial assistance to pensioners with low pensions living in areas of active or potential hostilities. Over the past year, more than 360,000 Ukrainian pensioners have received additional payments.
Thanks to Finland's funding, the UN WFP will be able to continue implementing this humanitarian program until 2024. Finland has provided a total of 11 million euros for UN WFP humanitarian projects in Ukraine, including:
- 8 million euros for food aid and financial support for the most vulnerable population categories in frontline areas.
- 1 million euros for demining agricultural lands in the Kharkiv region.
It is also worth noting that Finland has trained thousands of Ukrainian fighters to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression.
