India has overtaken China in iPhone shipments to the USA.

iPhone exchange between India and the USA: new trends
According to Omdia, in April of this year, iPhone shipments from India to the United States increased by 76%, reaching almost 3 million devices. Meanwhile, iPhone exports from China to the USA fell by 76% to 900 thousand devices. This indicates a rapid change in Apple's manufacturing strategy due to trade disputes between the two countries.
According to Lee Suan Chieh, a researcher at Omdia, these figures reflect Apple's proactive measures to adapt to American tariffs on Chinese goods, including investments in Indian supply chains dating back to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the Trump administration exempted iPhones from mutual tariffs, Apple CEO Tim Cook has already confirmed the company’s plans to shift some iPhone production for the American market to India. Currently, there are additional tariffs of 30% on iPhones from China, while the base rate for other countries, including India, is 10%.
Future outlook
Analysts expect that the growth of iPhone exports from India may slow down. The country's production capacity currently cannot fully meet American demand, which stands at around 20 million devices per quarter. Apple is also facing pressures from both the USA and China regarding production and supply diversification.
