The Israeli army has a higher motivation than the Ukrainian one – Rabbi Moshe Asman

The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Asman, compared the armies of Ukraine and Israel, expressing his opinion on the crucial role of soldiers' motivation and the approaches to mobilization. He emphasized that in Israel, military personnel are indeed willing to sacrifice everything and returned to the country at their own expense to join the army. Such great motivation can serve as an example for Ukraine.

I flew to Israel after October 7 and was struck by how many people at the airport were returning to the country. They were looking for charter flights, flying at their own expense, abandoning their businesses – everything to get to their military unit as soon as possible. They were changing into uniform on the way, on the plane. That is, they were not fleeing, but rather the opposite. The draft plan was fulfilled by 150%

The rabbi noted that Ukraine created its army 'from scratch' and is now considered 'the strongest army in Europe', but still needs further improvements. For enhancing the quality of military service, effective training lasting at least six months and quality officer courses are important. It is also essential for soldiers to feel the support of the state.

The importance of equipment and medical support

Although the Israeli army also has problems, Moshe Asman noted that the equipment and medical support in Israel are of high quality. 'We will never have a situation where something is lacking in the army,' he emphasized, noting that this also positively affects the motivation and combat readiness of the military.

The Ukrainian Chief Rabbi Moshe Asman compared the motivation of soldiers in Ukraine and Israel, highlighting the high motivation of Israelis which serves as an example for improving the efficiency of military service in the Ukrainian army. Important aspects include quality training and support from the state, as well as high-quality equipment and medical support.
