Ukrainian forces control new territories in the Kursk region
The Defense forces of Ukraine continue to move forward by 2 km on the front line and take control of 5 sq. km of territory in the Kursk region. According to the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, Oleksandr Syrsky, the situation in other directions is complex but controlled.
Syrsky noted: “Intense battles continue along the entire front line. The most difficult situation is in the Bakhmut direction, but our troops will be able to repel enemy attacks. In the Kursk direction, the offensive operation continues, during which we have made significant progress. Other directions are also under our control”.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the situation at the front during a session of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff, particularly in the Pokrovsk direction and in the Kursk region. Preparation of schools and energy issues were also discussed.
According to reports, the Russian Federation is forming new volunteer territorial defense units in response to the AFU's capture of the Kursk region. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is also concentrating command and control over irregular forces, likely for the use of mercenaries in offensive operations.
