Almost three times more: what is happening with the employment of Ukrainians in Germany.

The employment process of Ukrainian refugees in Germany shows positive trends. According to data from the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), the employment rate among Ukrainians who have sought asylum in Germany has significantly increased. In the fourth quarter of 2024, 43% of Ukrainian refugees were employed, even amid a general deterioration in the German labor market. This indicates substantial progress, as previously this figure was only 30% in the spring and 16% in the summer of 2022.
Experts say that this growth is related to the fact that many asylum seekers who previously underwent language courses and did not have the opportunity to work are now actively entering the labor market.
However, despite the positive changes, the main obstacle to the full integration of Ukrainians into the German labor market remains proficiency in the German language. Only 27% of Ukrainian refugees have a certificate confirming language skills at the B2 level, which is required for many professions in Germany,' the BiB research indicates.
Previously in Germany, allowances for part-Time employment were introduced for Ukrainians.
