The German politician condemned the conflict between Trump and Zelensky
Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and candidate for Chancellor of Germany, expressed his opinion on the latest scandal between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He considers this scandal a deliberate escalation on Trump's part, reports Tagesschau.de.
Merz reviewed the video of this scene several times and noted that this was not a spontaneous reaction to Zelensky's words, but rather an obviously provoked escalation. He also expressed surprise at the tone of the conversation and stated that it would bring no benefit.
Merz noted that similar rhetoric is characteristic of the new US administration. He sees continuity in a series of events in recent months, including the participation of the American delegation at the Munich Security Conference.
