Moldova approved the arrival of a weightlifter from Russia who illegally visited Crimea.

The participation of Russian weightlifter Regina Shaidullina in the European Weightlifting Championship, which will be held in Moldova, is not a threat to the country. This opinion was expressed by the official authorities of Moldova.
The Intelligence and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova found no elements of risk regarding the athlete's participation. The Ministry of Education and Research of Moldova also believes that this is an acknowledgment of Shaidullina's right to participate in competitions and has nothing to do with propaganda.
So far, the European Weightlifting Federation has not disclosed its position regarding Shaidullina's participation.
It is worth noting that previously Regina Shaidullina violated Ukrainian legislation by visiting occupied Crimea without going through customs and border control. Some experts believe she should be held criminally responsible for violating the law.
Currently, it is unknown whether Regina Shaidullina will participate in the European Championship, as Russian weightlifters have been suspended from international competitions due to the war.
