Both parties in Congress called for a revision of the US strategy towards Russia.

Representatives of the Republican and Democratic parties called on the US government to abandon the status quo in relations with the Russian Federation and designate Moscow as a permanent threat to global security. This information was published by The Hill.
According to the report, a bipartisan committee responsible for supporting democracy and human rights in post-Soviet countries insists that the US abandon the status quo in relations with the Russian Federation and label Moscow as a permanent threat to global security.
The Hill obtained a report from the Helsinki Commission, which states that Washington should change its thinking about the approach to the Russian Federation, similar to how it was done with China. Additionally, the report calls for providing "massive" military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine in its fight against the Russian Federation, as well as allowing Ukraine's Armed Forces to attack Russian territory using weapons provided by the US.
It is noted that the political proposals outlined in the report contradict the positions of former President Trump and Biden's opponents in Congress. However, Congressman Joe Wilson from the Republican Party dismissed the possibility of Trump making a deal with Putin, calling him a war criminal.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also a presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, previously spoke about continuing Biden's policy towards Ukraine. However, the political race will affect US relations with Ukraine and the Russian Federation, but the position of Congress is also crucial in determining global priorities, the report says.
According to the report, Republican lawmakers are likely to accept conclusions regarding a long-term fight against the Russian Federation, given its imperialist history. "We are abandoning a 30-year erroneous policy," an anonymous Congressional representative noted.
