Russia has a lot to answer for when it comes to crimes in Syria - State Department.

According to U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, Russia bears responsibility for the crimes of Bashar al-Assad against the people of Syria, as it has supported his regime and helped him strike at the country's civilians. It has witnessed how Russia supported a brutal regime that has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in Syria, as well as committed chemical attacks on its own people. Therefore, Russia must answer to the people across Syria.
Miller emphasized that the decision regarding the future of Russian military bases in Syria should be made by the Syrian people themselves. However, he noted that the presence of Russian bases in Syria has had catastrophic consequences for the civilian population over the past ten years.
