Land Demining: An Information Campaign for Farmers Launched in Ukraine.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has created a website for farmers who want to undergo demining of agricultural lands. The website contains all the necessary information about the conditions for participating in the program and instructions on how to apply. The goal of this information campaign is to attract more farmers to the program and improve the quality of their documents.
The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is interested in the rapid recovery of agricultural lands affected by the war. The government has allocated 3 billion hryvnias for this program. However, due to the ongoing sowing campaign, the number of farmers participating in the program is lower. Therefore, the information campaign aims to convey information about the program to all farmers, especially those working in frontline areas.
The UNDP Mine Action Program in Ukraine is collaborating with the Ministry of Economy and providing resources for the safe processing of land. This partnership contributes to the country's recovery and ensures its resilience.
The safety of farmers is a priority for the government. Demining fields not only returns the land to use but also saves lives. Professional demining is essential for safe operations.
According to the Ministry of Economy, this year 228 applications for participation in the program were submitted, but most of them were rejected. The number of approved applications and the volume of land demining this year are lower compared to last year. The main reason for the rejection of applications is the lack of non-technical surveys of the land plots worked by farmers. To address this issue, the Ministry of Economy is cooperating with the Humanitarian Demining Center and involves operators to conduct non-technical surveys in frontline regions.
The creation of a special website and collaboration with the UNDP program are important steps for improving the quality of farmers' documents and attracting more participants to the program. The agricultural land demining program helps to restore the country and ensures resilience.
