Ryanair plans to resume flights over Ukraine
The airline Ryanair plans to resume flights over Ukraine, hoping for the end of Russia's war against Ukraine. This was stated by the company's CEO Michael O'Leary.
According to him, Ryanair will be ready to launch flights over Ukraine within the first 4-6 weeks after the cessation of hostilities.
“I really hope that this will happen this year. I think one of the things that Trump can do, I hope, is to resolve the issue of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine as soon as possible,” said O'Leary.
The Ryanair director also reported that the company plans to launch 24 routes to Kyiv and Lviv. However, for flights to resume, a ceasefire is necessary, otherwise the European Aviation Safety Agency will not allow air transport to operate.
At the Kyiv International Economic Forum, Crispin Allison stated that flights from one of the Ukrainian airports – Lviv or Boryspil – will resume by the end of January 2025.
Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba reported that Ukraine lacks air defense systems to restore air travel.
Lviv International Airport is exploring the possibility of opening flights during martial law, provided that all safety requirements for aircraft, passengers, and infrastructure are met.
