How many Ukrainians plan to stay abroad permanently: survey.

According to the survey results, about 25% of Ukrainian refugees plan to settle abroad permanently. This data is provided by the Center for International Institutional Comparisons and Migration Studies at the Ifo Institute in Munich, reports DW.
«About 35% of Ukrainian refugees want to return to Ukraine as soon as it becomes safe again. Only 4% plan to return regardless of the security situation», said the director of the Ifo Center for Migration Studies, Panu Poutvaara.
According to the survey, 11% of the refugees have already returned to Ukraine, while 25% have not yet decided on their plans.
«Our results show that while many Ukrainian refugees wish to return to their country, the duration of the war is a decisive factor for the majority. The longer the conflict lasts, the more people consider the prospect of a future outside Ukraine», said Ifo migration researcher Yvonne Giesing.
It should also be noted that according to the survey, 79% of Ukrainians do not intend to move to the US or EU countries, even if they receive citizenship of these countries. Although the willingness of Ukrainians to move abroad increased compared to September 2022, its level remains lower than in 2020. The majority of Ukrainians (79%) state that even if they obtain US or EU citizenship, they will still stay in Ukraine.
