Withdrawal of United States troops from airbase 201 in Niger has been completed. This airbase was located near Agadez, in the central part of the country, and was built for 100 million dollars, reports Reuters.
The airbase hosted drones and provided essential intelligence data on Islamist militant groups. In a joint statement, the Nigerien Ministry of Defense and the American military noted that personnel and equipment have already been removed from the base, and the parties continue to coordinate for the complete withdrawal of troops.
"Effective cooperation and communication between the US and Niger armed forces ensured the completion of this transfer ahead of schedule and without complications," the statement said.
