The PЦУ Priest Explained What Rituals Believers Can Perform Online.

The PЦУ Priest Uses Social Networks and Communicates with Believers Online
Priest Oleksiy Filiuk from the Ternopil Eparchy of the PЦУ has been using social networks for preaching since 2016. He is known for his videos in which he dispels various church superstitions. In an interview with 'Glavkom', the priest confirms that the ability to communicate with parishioners via the Internet does not negatively affect his authority.
According to Oleksiy Filiuk, a priest will always be in demand if he works hard in the parish and achieves results. He also considers the possibility of online communication with parishioners, especially with Ukrainians living abroad. The priest is even looking at the possibility of receiving online requests for prayers for health and the deceased. However, he emphasizes that confession, communion, baptism, and other church sacraments can only take place offline.
In his online activity, Oleksiy Filiuk encounters various reactions from believers and fellow priests, but he does not face active criticism. The priest states that his motivation is goodwill and care for each person.
Moreover, Oleksiy Filiuk confirms that he will conduct a funeral with honors even for a military LGBTQ+. He emphasizes that every person deserves a dignified farewell on their last journey.
It should be noted that priests in Chernihiv have offered to baptize children online due to the war in Ukraine.
