National Security Advisor to U.S. President Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan, reported that the state of the Russian economy has become concerning in recent weeks. He noted this during a speech at the Reagan National Defense Forum.
According to Sullivan, President Biden has tasked him with strengthening military support for Ukraine and imposing economic pressure on Russia.
'If you look at the Russian economy now, in recent weeks, you will see that alarming bells are starting to ring much louder. Russia is truly mortgaging its economic future,' Sullivan stated.
He said that military support for Kyiv and economic pressure will be tools for future peace negotiations aimed at securing Ukraine's sovereignty and independence.
'I cannot predict exactly how the war will end, just as I cannot dictate to President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people how it should be concluded,' Sullivan added.
