Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Atanas Zafirov announced that Bulgaria will not sell reactors from the 'Belene' NPP planned for installation at the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant.
'Negotiations took place with partners from the Joint Control Council, as well as with the leader of the GERB party Boyko Borissov regarding the future of the two reactors for the 'Belene' NPP. We reached an agreement not to sell them,'Zafirov stated.
Zafirov explained that the reactors are a strategic asset of Bulgaria and an important component of the country's energy independence, thus their sale is not possible.
Earlier, Bulgaria proposed to review the prices for supplying reactors for power units No. 3 and No. 4 of the Khmelnitsky NPP, but has now completely refused to sell.
