The EU said how the enlargement report will affect Ukraine.

The EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova, stated that the upcoming EU Enlargement Report will not contain elements that would delay the opening of negotiation clusters for Ukraine's accession to the EU. She said this in a comment to Ukrinform.
Mathernova emphasized that the results of the legislative screening have a greater impact on the opening of negotiations than the annual enlargement report. She noted that for the opening of negotiation clusters, the screening report of legislation is decisive.
Mathernova stressed that negotiations on joining the EU are not typical negotiations, where both sides give and receive something. She stated that Ukraine simply needs to adopt EU laws and comply with their requirements.
The EU Ambassador noted that Ukraine can conclude "transitional agreements" in certain areas, as was done with Eastern European countries when they joined the EU, to resolve issues accumulated since the times of the communist regime.
Mathernova acknowledged that Ukraine is in a difficult situation due to the war. She noted that this will cause many discussions regarding the fulfillment of strict EU environmental rules and providing assistance to Ukraine in this matter.
