A fire broke out at the Eiffel Tower: over a thousand people evacuated.

In Paris, at the Eiffel Tower, a fire broke out, leading to the evacuation of over a thousand people. The blaze ignited in the elevator shaft located between the first and second floors. Overheating of the cable was the cause of this incident. The fire has already been extinguished, however, the Eiffel Tower was closed to tourists. This famous cultural landmark is visited daily by large crowds of tourists.
Additionally, a reconstructed Notre-Dame Cathedral was opened in Paris. The restoration of this temple took five years following the fire. During this Time, 846 million euros were raised from patrons and private donors. However, public organizations expressed concerns about the use of 400 tons of lead for covering the spires and roof, as it is considered hazardous to health.
