Doctors in Padua are celebrating the world's first heart transplant operation with a functioning organ. They report that such a transplant contributes to faster recovery of heart functions, eliminating damage from ischemia and reperfusion, and improving its performance after surgery. The patient is in good condition and will be discharged soon. It is worth noting that a similar operation was performed in this hospital about 40 years ago.
Earlier, Ukrainian surgeons completed a unique face skin transplant for a serviceman who suffered severe injuries. The 'Okhmatdyt' hospital also performed a liver transplant for a five-month-old baby, which was the only option to save the boy.
