The first inclusive train carriage of Ukrzaliznytsia has appeared in Ukraine.

Ukrzaliznytsia has presented its first barrier-free carriage designed for transporting people with disabilities, including passengers in wheelchairs. This innovative means of transport was manufactured in three months in Bakhmach by the company's specialists.

Features of the carriage

'This carriage is experimental, but important for the systemic implementation of barrier-free solutions in railway transportation. It will be available upon request from organizations through the group ticket ordering service on the website or Ukrzaliznytsia application,' - the company's press service noted.

The carriage has four enlarged compartments designed for two persons with disabilities and two companions. When the carriage is not used for special transportation, the compartments can accommodate up to six regular passengers.

The carriage is equipped with an electric lift, widened doors, and corridors, a spacious restroom with a shower, a call button for assistance, a changing table, and a child seat with belts.

Additionally, the carriage features navigation in Braille, contrasting markings, toilet occupancy indicators, individual sockets with USB and Type-C, adjustable backrests, autonomous lighting, and surveillance cameras.

'Before the modernization, the Ukrzaliznytsia team met with organizations that assist people with disabilities,' - the company added.
