From Oil to iPhone: Trump's Tariffs Spark Frenzy in U.S. Stores.

Many American consumers believe that the tariffs imposed by Trump will lead to significant price increases on goods and products in the U.S. According to the Tax Foundation, these new tariffs will cost Americans $3.1 trillion over the next decade. This means that, on average, each household will pay an additional $2,100 in taxes by 2025. The Yake Budget Lab has also calculated that starting in 2026, American households will spend an additional $3,800 each year. For example, prices for rice may increase by 10.3% in the near future, while vegetable prices may rise by 4%.
Many consumers who are concerned about this are more actively purchasing long-lasting food supplies. In chain stores like Costco and Walmart, they buy toothpaste, soap, bottled water, rice, canned goods, olive oil, juices, flour, frozen pizza, and other items in bulk. The publication notes that some people are buying 20 units of a product, as they never know how much they might need.
According to the Consumer Technology Association, the price increases will affect not just food, but also technology products such as smartphones, laptops, and gaming consoles. Bloomberg reports that American consumers are buying both 20 bottles of olive oil and iPhones.
Interestingly, Turkey may gain certain advantages from the new U.S. tariff rates. Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek believes that these new tariffs could be beneficial for the Turkish economy.
This is an interesting situation where Canadian citizens are selling their homes in the U.S. to leave the country as quickly as possible.
