Hotels in Bulgaria are suffering significant losses due to frequent thefts at resorts. For this reason, Miroslav Borshosh, the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria, announced the creation of a tourist police. The news about this was published on the website 'Glavkom'.
During a meeting with local officials and mayors in the city of Burgas, Borshosh noted that it is Time to create a special tourist police. The control functions, which are financed by several agencies, are not coordinated properly, leading to insufficient response. The newly created tourist police will unite several institutions under the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism to ensure more effective control.
Many hotels in Bulgaria report incidents of thefts that occurred last summer season. Tourists steal towels, bed linens, televisions, and artworks. Many of these incidents are committed by outside criminals.
Thefts occur through windows and terraces, and some perpetrators use elevators to steal large items. Recently, there have also been thefts of food and drinks from hotel rooms and restaurants. In particular, tourists from abroad often steal towels, while tourists from Eastern Europe regularly steal branded glasses and fruits.
It should be noted that this summer, an increase in accommodation prices is expected on the Northern Black Sea coast. On average, prices will rise by 10-15%, and in some high-end hotels even by 20%.
