The UN has gathered new evidence of serious violations and crimes committed by Russian authorities in the occupied territories of Ukraine. The commission's findings indicate torture, killings, rapes, detention of civilians, enforced disappearances, deportation of children, and attacks on cultural sites.
New evidence confirms previous findings by the commission about the torture of civilians and prisoners of war by Russian authorities. Additionally, the consequences of the Russian invasion of Mariupol are disclosed, including numerous casualties and damage to medical facilities.
The commission calls for further investigation and holding Russia accountable for the committed crimes. The commission's findings will be used in international courts and tribunals.
The mentioned crimes indicate extreme cruelty that has not been seen in Europe since World War II. Guilt must be punished, and accountability is inevitable. The MFA calls on the international community to ensure this.
