Powerful Typhoon in Taiwan: Holiday Declared and Flights Canceled (video).

Typhoon "Kraton" Hits Taiwan: One Person Dead, Two Missing
The powerful typhoon "Kraton" hit Taiwan and led to the closure of government offices and the declaration of a holiday. According to local authorities, the disaster claimed the life of one person, two others are missing, and 70 people were injured. One of the cities on the coast of Taiwan was named the epicenter of the typhoon, and residents there are asked to stay home.
As a result of the typhoon, hundreds of flights were canceled, and schools, offices, and financial markets were closed. Additionally, falling rocks and trees were reported across the country, and 3,500 households were left without power.
The first victim was a 70-year-old man who was lifted 3 meters into the air by a gust of wind while trimming branches. Two other people are missing: one was swept away by waves on the beach, and the other was washed off a bridge. In Fangliao, a dam was damaged, but repair work is already underway.
The government declared October 3 as a public holiday in hopes of minimizing the disaster's impact.
