Refusal to change clocks: the last argument against 'summer' and 'winter' time

The world is abandoning seasonal Time changes

Out of 200 countries, only 60 continue the practice of seasonal time changes, while 140 countries refrain from it. The last transition to summer time occurred in March 2025 in North America, while countries in the Southern Hemisphere reverted to standard time in April.

The European Union has been considering the possibility of abolishing clock changes since 2019, but the decision is currently suspended due to differences within the European Council. Some European countries, such as Russia, Iceland, and Belarus, have already completely abandoned seasonal time changes.

Harmful effects of clock changes

Research shows that changing clocks can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and disruptions in sleep cycles. Scientists recommend using a permanent standard time to preserve health. The economic benefits of changing clocks have proven to be a myth, yet the abolition of this practice is increasingly gaining support among the public.

The majority of countries around the world have refused to change clocks, particularly in Europe, where the possibility of abolishing this practice has been under consideration since 2019. Scientific studies confirm the harmful effects of clock changes on health, prompting more and more countries to think about abandoning this practice.
